Sterling Certified Under EU-U.S. Privacy Shield

May 4th, 2017

New York, May 4, 2017 – Sterling (Sterling), the world’s largest background screening company, is pleased to announce its certification under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield. The Privacy Shield certification – which replaces Safe Harbor – allows Sterling’s U.S. business to receive data originating from the European Economic Area with greater speed and safety.

“We’re pleased to be awarded this certification by the Privacy Shield Team. This is yet another advancement for Sterling that will allow for both increased flow of information from our clients and their subsidiaries based in Europe while also ensuring the utmost protection for the personal information of candidates and clients,” said Oran Kiazim, Vice President, Global Privacy. “Our entire team is committed to upholding the Privacy Shield Principles and passing on the benefits to our clients.”

The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework was co-designed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission to assist companies in the EU with transferring data to companies in the U.S. through a mechanism that would meet data protection requirements and foster transatlantic commerce. The Privacy Shield program is administered by the International Trade Administration (ITA) within the U.S. Department of Commerce.
